Hasluck’s work remains one of the few books on this subject, dealing mainly with the relationships between mosques and churches during the time of the Sultans. The volumes constitute one of the few works to deal with the subject. Christianity and Islam under the Sultans is highly recommended for those with an interest in religious history, and is not to be missed by the discerning collector.

In the spring of 1913 the author visited Konia, the ancient Iconium. There he became interested in the interplay of Christianity and Islam within the Turkish empire … The result of his researches is this work, the first comprehensive study of Turkish folk-lore and its relations with Christianity.
