An vielen Orten der Welt hat sich seit einigen Jahren die World Faith Harmony Week (WFHW) etabliert. Diese Initiative ist durch den Vorschlag des Königs Abdullah II. von Joranien am 23.09.2010 an die UN-Vollversammlung herangetragen worden. Knapp einen Monat später, am 20.10.2010, nahm die UNO diesen Vorschlag einstimmig an, und seitdem gilt die erste Februarwoche eines jeden Jahres als World Interfaith Harmony Week – Interreligiöse Welt-Harmonie-Woche.
Die Initiatoren laden immer wieder ein, ein eigenes interreligiöses Projekt in diese Harmonie-Woche gewissermaßen „einzubinden“.
Darum hat sich das Künstlerpaar Carmen Dietrich und Gregor Merten entschlossen, dort auch den ENGEL der KULTUREN in Verbindung mit dem Friedenscamp TENT OF NATIONS (Zelt der Völker) vorzustellen.

Im Anschreiben der Künstler heißt es dazu:

European countries are developing the social sculpture Angel
of Culture since
2008 to express their desire for Interfaith Harmony in their
countries and all
over the world.
The German Art Project www.engel-der-kulturen.de in cooperation with the Tent of Nations – People
Building Bridges – in
Palestine are working on the Angel of Culture in a diameter of
30 Meters.
It is
a long term project and will be build with stones collected by
hands of people
from different countries, backgrounds, cultures and religions
to express the common
vision and as a hope for peace between the 3 world religions.
The Angel of Culture will show how people from
different religions
could live together in peace and harmony by working together
to end the
injustice and build up a better future based on acceptance of
rights and
respect of human rights. It also shows that religions must
bring people
together, forming an angel and sends the message of faith,
love and hope to all
Nations.
