Interreligious Insight – Vol. 24, no 1, June 2026 und 90 Jahre World Congress of Faiths (WCF)

Der Weltkongress der Religionen feierte am 15. Juli 2026 offiziell sein 90-jähriges Bestehen.

Die 1936 als eine Nachwirkung des Parlaments der Weltreligionen in Chicago 1893 von Sir Francis Younghusband gegründete Organisation stellte von Anfang an die Förderung versöhnender Begegnungen der Religionen und des interreligiösen Dialogs in den Mittelpunkt sowie das Engagement für die Gleichwertigkeit religiöser Glauebenstradionenen und gegen Hass und Zwiespalt säende Absolutheitsansprüche.. Der Theologe Alan Race, verantwortlicher verantwortlicher Redakteur des WCF-Journals „Interreligious Insight“ hat in der Juni Nummer 2026 darum im Editorial eine Gratulation für den WCF veröffentlicht.
Er schreibt u.a.: „The World Congress of Faiths can feel proud of the contributions it has made to the mammoth task of building bridges between people of religious and spiritual conviction. That task continues to be mammoth, and although the World Congress has turned 90, many would say that its task has only just begun.“ And he finished: „In today’s fractured world surely more bridges are needed. The work of dialogue and collaboration continues.“
